This panel will expand on and explore challenges related to medical management of external ear canal pathology. It will highlight pearls in the diagnosis and treatment of the following disorders: dermatologic pathology involving the ear canal and conchal bowl (including eczema, psoriasis, pruritis, contact dermatitis) infectious etiologies of the canal and tympanic membrane (including otomycosis, allergic inflammation); as well as common challenges in ear canal management such as hearing aids, geriatric concerns and indications for operative intervention. Effective medical and topical treatments will be highlighted, as well as any evidence-based recommendations regarding behavioral modifications.
