The goal of this program is to improve management of respiratory diseases and inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) in the newborn.After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Explain the mechanisms of respiratory diseases seen in the newborn.
2. Differentiate between normal and abnormal lung development in newborns.
3. Diagnose IEM using appropriate tests.
4. Identify symptoms specific to particular IEMs.
5. Provide dietary and pharmacologic management of IEMs.
