Revision cholesteatoma surgery is very challenging: it demands an in-depth knowledge of the pathology and surgical competence.
This new instruction course will focus on analyzing anatomical factors and potential technical errors that have lead to residual or recurrent disease following primary cholesteatoma surgery. The format is a practical one: we’ll present clinical cases and discuss them in an interactive manner showing radiologic imaging, clinical images, and surgical videos of revision surgery. We’ll discuss management of recidivistic cholesteatoma in canal wall down mastoid cavities, in canal up mastoidectomy and in cases previously managed with an exclusive endoscopic approach. We’ll discuss indications for endoscopy as an adjunct tool in revision surgery and operative techniques to avoid complications and improve surgical outcomes.
