The goal of this program is to improve the diagnosis of rheu matologic conditions and the management of peripheral artery disease. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clini cian will be better able to: 1. Prescribe appropriate doses of allopurinol for patients with gout. 2. Identify the specific findings required for diagnosis of giant cell arteritis. 3. Recognize the limitations of antinuclear antibody testing. 4. Screen for peripheral artery disease using the ankle-brachial index. 5. Prescribe effective treatment of peripheral artery disease and associated claudication.
