Scholars in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Course

Scholars in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Course

Designed to provide a solid foundation in patient safety and quality improvement principles, SQIPS is ideal for faculty physicians, subspecialty fellows, and advanced practice providers who wish to integrate quality into their academic careers. The seven-month blended curriculum incorporates didactic sessions with online modules, readings, and videos. These components work together to deepen participants understanding of course concepts. The homework assigned typically requires about 4 hours of time each month. Additionally, participants are expected to develop and implement a quality improvement project, that ideally includes learners such as students, residents, and/or fellows in the team. This collaborative approach provides practical learning opportunities for team leadership. Since the project is an integral component of the course, participants will receive guidance and mentorship from the course instructors. In recognition that impactful projects take time to implement and develop successfully, it is not an expectation that the project be completed by the end of the course. However, participants are expected to be invested in carrying their projects to completion.
