Secondary osteonecrosis is a subtype of the disabling disease osteonecrosis, which leads to end-stage arthritis of various joints, including the knee. Management of this disease aims to halt progression or deaccelerate the onset of end-stage arthritis. To avoid the high morbidity and detrimental impact on the quality of life, prompt diagnosis and treatment are essential. This activity reviews the evaluation and treatment of secondary osteonecrosis of the knee and highlights the role of the interprofessional team in investigating and managing patients with this condition.
