1. Differentiate hypopnea definitions that have been used at different times in the field of sleep medicine and how they affect identification of patients with obstructive sleep apnea;
2. Describe the reasoning and data supporting using the AASM Recommended hypopnea definition in evaluating patients with sleep apnea;
3. Identify steps that have been taken by the AASM and the Hypopnea Scoring Task Force to help sleep providers and sleep centers implement the AASM Recommended hypopnea rule; and
4. Discuss future methods of measuring sleep-disordered breathing and identifying patients with sleep apnea
