The goal of this program is to improve management of Staphylococcus aureus infection and patient outcomes through effective use of medications. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Optimize use of cefazolin in patients with methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus infection. 2. Compare transthoracic echocardiography with transesophageal echocardiography in diagnosis of S aureus bloodstream infection. 3. Explain the risks of ondansetron using intravenous vs oral routes. 4. Minimize risk for neurotoxicity when using cefepime. 5. Cite evidence from the SALSA trial on optimal administration of hypertonic saline in patients with hyponatremia.
