The goal of this program is to improve use of nonstigmatizing language in the emergency department and management of toxicities associated with abortifacient substances. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Use nonstigmatizing language to describe patients in the emergency department.
2. Develop strategies to eliminate use of stigmatizing language among clinicians in the emergency department.
3. Identify pharmaceutical agents and herbal supplements that may be used by patients seeking abortion.
4. Manage medication and supplement overdoses in pregnant patients.
5. Consider differences in bioavailability among administration routes when determining likelihood of fetal and maternal toxicity.
