• What histories should the sonographer gather and include on the report?
• Considerations for acquiring images (optimization is extremely important)
o Pitfalls- shadowing, rib artifact, breast implants, TDS, scar tissue, patient comfort, lung artifact
o Tips and tricks- select best images, raise gain, decrease compression, make sure 4/3/2 chamber views are at the same depth, make sure to use similar EKG/HR rhythms, make sure that ALL wall segments are in the sector, etc
• Gaining and remaining competent/ QI- 50 needed for imaging competencies. Add it to your regular echo protocol to gain practice.
• Discuss the importance of sonographers echo practices and the patient outcomes.
• Walk-through examples- focus on tracking accuracy and competency building
