The goal of this program is to improve screening and prevention of suicide in pediatric patients and patient outcomes through counseling on electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and vaping in the pediatric population. After hearing and assimilating this pro-gram, the clinicians will be better able to.
1. Explain the logistics of screening a pediatric patient for suicidality.
2. Differentiate depression from suicide in pediatric patients.
3. List the factors that make a pediatric patient at risk for suicide a candidate for outpatient therapy.
4. Cite data for e-cigarette or vaping use-associated lung injury (EVALI) in pediatric patients.
5. Optimize care in the physician’s office for pediatric patients who are vaping or using e-cigarettes.
