The goal of this program is to improve coping with medical malpractice lawsuits and disclosure of medical errors in clinical practice. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Identify factors that minimize risk for malpractice lawsuits. 2. Adopt behaviors that are appropriate in the aftermath of catastrophic medical events. 3. Make decisions about fighting malpractice claims vs agreeing to a settlement. 4. Differentiate between the various types of medical errors that occur in clinical practice. 5. Integrate various techniques for overcoming barriers in the disclosure of medical errors to patients and their families.
