SWMES: Abnormal Vital Signs

SWMES: Abnormal Vital Signs

The leading medical error and cause of medical malpractice litigation in emergency medicine is the failure to diagnose. The failure to recognize and/or act upon the presence of abnormal vital signs is a major contributor. This series of case-based videos is designed to assist the emergency department (ED) team in keeping the vital sign issue front-of-mind, reducing the frequency of medical errors, and keeping patients safe. After completing this activity, providers/members of the ED team should be able to: demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of abnormal vital signs, including their significance, potential causes, and the critical role they play in clinical decision-making.
