The goal of this program is to improve the gynecologic and obstetric care of women with systemic autoimmune disease, and diagnosis of patients presenting with acute pelvic pain. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Anticipate the effects of the high estrogen state in pregnancy on the immune system in patients with rheumatic diseases. 2. Prescribe medications for patients with autoimmune dis eases that are safe during pregnancy. 3. Recommend appropriate contraceptive methods for patients with rheumatic diseases. 4. Order appropriate imaging studies for women presenting with acute pelvic pain. 5. Correctly interpret imaging findings for women presenting with acute pelvic pain.
