Tailoring Care: Crafting Individualized and Patient-Centered Narcolepsy Treatment Plans

Tailoring Care: Crafting Individualized and Patient-Centered Narcolepsy Treatment Plans

Patients with narcolepsy experience excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy, disrupted night-time sleep, hypnagogic hallucinations, and sleep paralysis. Patients frequently cope with these symptoms for years, at great expense to their quality of life, and often have to see multiple specialists before finishing their diagnostic journey. Along the way, they may be misdiagnosed and treated for depression, anxiety, or another mental health condition. Even with a proper diagnosis, until recently, patients with narcolepsy were limited to treatment with stimulants or twice-nightly drug regimens. During this podcast, sleep experts will be joined by a patient with narcolepsy who will share their experiences and insights. The candid discussion will include their diagnostic journey, experience with narcolepsy, and how their care team established treatment goals and measured treatment response over time. Additional patient case examples that require application of learned topics will also be discussed to better translate knowledge into practice.
