In early 2024, the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) released updated standards that bring significant changes to the practice of home infusion therapy. This activity, designed for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and nurses will focus on the key updates from the 2024 Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice that are particularly relevant to home infusion nurses. Participants will learn how to meet and exceed these updated standards to ensure the delivery of superior clinical care and achieve optimal patient outcomes. One of the most notable updates is the introduction of a new standard titled “Home Infusion Therapy,” which outlines practice recommendations for the safe transition of patients to home infusion, the safe administration of various home infusion therapies, and guidance on patient education and ongoing monitoring. This session will provide a detailed overview of this new standard, as well as other updates related to infusion administration and vascular access device care and management in the home setting.
