The goal of this program is to improve management of patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinicians will be able to: 1. Explain the role of neurohormones, neurotransmitters, and neural systems in the manifestation of PTSD symptoms. 2. Select a treatment for PTSD based on its effects on specific neurohormones, neurotransmitters, and neuronal systems. 3. Use trauma-focused psychotherapies to manage patients with PTSD. 4. Summarize level of evidence to support emerging agents for treatment of PTSD. 5. Manage PTSD based on the neurobiology of disease.
