The goal of this program is to improve the management of synovial joint (SJ) injuries and posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Depict the structure and function of the SJ and articular cartilage (AC). 2. Identify the biologic mechanisms which contribute to development of OA. 3. Outline the mechanism and impacts of aging in OA. 4. Weigh the impacts of joint instability and force of injury in development of PTOA. 5. Recognize the effects of corticosteroid dosing on chon drocyte function in joints impacted by PTOA.
