An informal survey of VA Connecticut (VACT) pharmacy employees elicited an expressed interest in having an educational activity that provided information on wound injuries and wound care treatment options. Healthcare professionals, particularly pharmacists, play an integral role in the medication management of wound care treatment and ensuring patients have the necessary wound care supplies. It is essential that pharmacists and technicians familiarize themselves with the available wound care supply options to provide appropriate care for patients. An educational program is presented by each resident every year. This has proved to be very informative and useful and has been extremely well received by the entire staff. This will be a face to face and live virtual presentation with opportunities for active learning interspersed throughout the program for audience participation. The expected outcome is for the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who attend this program to have a better understanding of the management of wound injuries and the available wound care medication and supply options to formulate an appropriate wound care treatment regimen. It will be presented as a knowledge-based continuing education (CE) program.
