Obesity is a health problem affecting nearly 40% of the American population. Many overweight and obese patients seek body contouring procedures, including thighplasty. A thighplasty is a surgical procedure performed for functional or aesthetic reasons. The main indications for thighplasty include excess and ptotic skin and subcutaneous tissues in the thighs. In addition, many patients have a history of antecedent massive weight loss, which has additional technical implications at the time of surgery. This activity reviews the evaluation and potential treatment modalities for patients requesting a thighplasty and highlights the role of the interprofessional team in evaluating and treating patients who undergo thighplasty.
