The goal of this program is to improve the management of massive transfusion in trauma patients, surgical management of difficult gallbladder, and management of mesh challenges in penetrating abdominal trauma. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Explain storage requirements for liquid cold-stored whole blood (WB).
2. Compare usage of WB and component therapy (CPT) in patients with usage of CPT alone.
3. List the advantages of liquid plasma over thawed fresh frozen plasma.
4. Optimize management of difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
5. Recommend a management plan for a patient with penetrating abdominal stab wound with a mesh implant.
