TRANSGENDER ADOLESCENTS/STROKE PREVENTION

The goal of this program is to improve management of menstrual suppression in transgender and gender nonbinary adolescents, and improve management of primary and secondary stroke prevention in women. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Prescribe long-acting reversible contraception, oral contraceptives, and gender-affirming testosterone (GAT) for effective menstrual suppression.
2. Implement strategies for controlling breakthrough bleeding associated with the use of GAT.
3. Identify the risk factors for stroke in women.
4. Recommend guideline-based treatment strategies for stroke risk reduction in women.
5. Reduce cardiovascular risk in women with aspirin or surgical intervention.
