Traumatic Brain Injury/Emergency Surgical Airway/Colitis for the Acute Care Surgeon

The goal of this program is to improve the treatment of increased intracranial pressure (ICP) following traumatic brain injury (TBI), management of emergency surgical airway, treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) and Clostridium difficile colitis, and management of TBI. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Treat increased ICP following TBI with hyperosmolar therapy. 2. Perform a successful emergency surgical airway procedure using tracheostomy tubes. 3. Manage UC and C difficile colitis according to the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons guidelines. 4. Cite evidence regarding the outcomes in use of prehospital tranexamic acid in TBI. 5. Use a tiered approach to TBI treatment escalation according to the Western Trauma Association TBI management guidelines.
