The goal of this program is to improve management of traumatic grief and management of pediatric acute agitation. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Differentiate between grief as a normal response and prolonged grief disorder
2. Provide psychological aid for a patient with acute grief reactions.
3. Calm patients having initial reactions to traumatic loss of a family member.
4. List factors likely to increase use of medication in a pediatric patient presenting to the emergency department with agitation.
5. Optimize management of agitation in a pediatric patient presenting with autism spectrum disorder as a primary diagnosis.
