Trichofolliculoma is a benign hamartomatous cutaneous adnexal tumor originating from the hair follicle. Trichofollicoma commonly presents as a solitary dome-shaped papule with an enlarged central pore, through which multiple vellus hairs emerge; lesions most commonly occur on the central face, scalp, and neck of adults. In the absence of classic clinical features, a histological examination is required to establish the diagnosis of trichofolliculoma. There have been no documented cases of trichofolliculoma exhibiting malignant transformation, indicating an excellent prognosis even without treatment. However, excision may be considered for cosmetic or functional purposes. This activity reviews the epidemiology, clinical presentation, clinical and histopathological evaluation, and management of trichofolliculoma and highlights the role of the interprofessional healthcare team in caring for patients with this rare skin lesion.
