The goal of this program is to improve the use of tympanostomy tubes, management of cholesteatoma, and use of cochlear implants in patients with hearing loss. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify the appropriate indications and timing for treatment with tympanostomy tubes.
2. Select an appropriate surgical method for removal of a cholesteatoma.
3. Utilize magnetic resonance imaging for detection and endoscopy for clean removal of a cholesteatoma.
4. Advise patients on the benefits and limitations of different types of cochlear implants.
5. Recognize patients with hearing loss as candidates for cochlear implantation.
