Medical professionals require a basic understanding of clinical research design and implementation in order to understand and interpret the medical literature and ensure evidence-based practice. However, many clinical professionals do not have any formal training in research methods and are therefore ill-equipped to evaluate relevant clinical studies. In addition, some professionals may seek opportunities to participate in clinical studies or collaborate with colleagues and trainees on clinical research projects. Formal research training is needed to support these endeavors and provide the critical tools required to participate in well-designed clinical studies.
