The goal of this program is to improve pharmacologic management of pediatric patients with psychiatric disorders. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Incorporate the benefits and potential side effects of common psychotropic medications in pediatric patients.
2. Choose optimal psychotropic medications based on psychiatric diagnosis and pharmacokinetics of the medication.
3. Develop strategies for monitoring pediatric patients taking psychotropic medication.
4. Employ strategies to find the optimal dose of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors based on patient response.
5. Use short-acting and extended-release medications for management of psychiatric diagnoses.
