UPDATES ON RADIATION FOR OROPHARYNGEAL AND THYROID CANCER/CONSIDERATIONS FOR LARYNGEAL PRESERVATION

The goal of this program is to improve the management of local regional recurrence in oropharyngeal cancers, advanced laryngeal cancers, and locally advanced thyroid cancers. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Treat local regional recurrence in oropharyngeal cancers.
2. Anticipate common complications of reirradiation as treatment of head and neck cancers.
3. Select the appropriate treatment approach for treating advanced laryngeal cancers.
4. Counsel patients on potential toxicities of available treatment options for advanced laryngeal cancers.
5. Identify patients with locally advanced thyroid cancers in whom treatment with external beam radiation therapy is appropriate.
