Translating clinical, imaging, endoscopic, and drug induced exams into clinical decision making is difficult. Integrating new and evolving therapies such as hypoglossal nerve stimulation require a solid understanding of the upper airway. However, findings on exam are often subjective and differ even among “experts”. Two experienced sleep surgeons will explain concepts of airway exam techniques and structural airway phenotypes. The goal of the session is describe examination techniques in detail (method), provide a description of the metrics (findings), and give examples of how to translate specific findings of both DISE and wake examinations into clinical and surgical practice.
