The goal of this program is to improve management of urinary tract infection (UTI). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinicians will be better able to: 1. Select appropriate agents for treating acute uncomplicated bacterial cystitis. 2. Identify patients with urinary system conditions who may be treated with nitrofurantoin. 3. Recognize bacterial strains which have developed resistance to antibiotics. 4. Tailor the use of blood cultures for clearance of patients with UTI. 5. Use alternatives to antibiotics for prophylaxis for recurrent UTI.
