Vaccine Hesitancy: Dialogue Skills to Build Trust

Vaccine Hesitancy: Dialogue Skills to Build Trust

The FMA is committed to providing physicians with professional development and educational opportunities that will strengthen their ability to succeed and thrive in whatever professional setting they choose to practice within. Today’s healthcare professionals are facing unprecedented organizational, cultural, and professional changes and challenges. With this in mind, the FMA has collaborated with a variety of experts to develop a series of online courses intended to support the leadership skills of Florida physicians. This particular module presented by an expert in conflict management illuminates a key point of contention prevalent in healthcare currently – vaccine hesitancy. The hope is that healthcare professionals who are armed with informed research/statistics plus effective listening and communication techniques are better positioned to support patients in making the best and most well-informed decisions for their own healthcare and that of their family. Course Objectives: As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to: – Recognize the characteristics of individuals who fall prey to online falsehoods and conspiracy theories – Differentiate access barriers from hesitancy – Understand the difference between dialogue and debate – Employ specific communication techniques to achieve constructive vaccine conversations
