PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Oral white lesions are a common referral to otolaryngologists globally. These are a prevalent and heterogeneous group of lesions, with no consensus practice management guidelines. As a result there is heterogeneity in practice and treatment patterns for these challenging lesions. In this session, we will review the current state of literature in regards to types of oral white lesions, epidemiology, screening recommendations, diagnostic techniques, treatment options, and surveillance.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Understand prevalence, diversity and options for initial workup for oral white lesionsOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Learn about factors associated with increased risk for malignancyOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Gain exposure to practice patterns for management of oral white lesionsBACKGROUND STATEMENT: Oral white lesions are prevalent and seen by many otolaryngologists. These are challenging cases to manage as literature and guidelines lack any consensus. This panel was presented at the 2022 AAOHNS annual meeting, with good audience attendance and feedback.
